Abstract: We consider a class of open quantum systems where a system is non-locally coupled to an environment, with coupling strength scaling as the inverse square root of the environment size. These models describe long-range interactions beyond mean-field approximations, in which the system of interest interacts centrally with a large reservoir. We demonstrate that these models exhibit universal bosonic behavior as a consequence of the quantum central limit theorem: in the thermodynamic limit of the reservoir, the reduced dynamics of the system becomes equivalent to that of the system linearly coupled to an environment of bosonic modes.
